Want to understand the fired U.S. Attorney kerfuffle?
Charles Krauthammer in his "Unnecessary Scandal" column has the clearest explanation I have seen of the "scandal".
It is not a scandal, just business as usual by the administration and mistakes in tactics which have opened the door for the "get W" at any cost crowd. Too bad they can't put their energies into more constructive efforts!

My only comment here is that many people felt the exact same way (with parties reversed, of course) during the late 1990s!
I understand your point and have some sympathy for it. The difference is that in the late 1990's a law had obviously been broken. That is not the case in the current scandal - oh, the Democrats are trying to stretch it to obstruction of justice, but I don't think any serious person thinks this is the case - it is just ineptness by someone in the administration.
I have always been interested in the justification in the minds of people who think the actions in the late '90's inappropriate when it was proven that perjury laws were broken.
