OBSERVATION - March 3, 2007

While driving I observed the following on the rear window of a Dodge Caravan:

  • MY KIDS KICK ASS!
  • Kristina Jimmy

This struck me as odd, but as I passed the car I noticed a ROSARY hanging from the rear-view mirror. The two observations together struck me as even more odd!

Coarsening of our society? Comments?

Vulgarity has become an acceptable form of form of communication & praise. With the "extreme" nature of our lives there is a need to up the ante in order to create emphasis or hyperbole. With increased usage of curse words and phrases in the main stream media and programming we are numbed. Religion has had to make its share of changes to accommodate the population. I liken it to the accessibility of an annulment in the Catholic Church now vs. 20 years ago…how about 50 years?

Another thing I can’t stand: the families who have stick figure representations of themselves with each family members name attached. (Many times they also include last names and pets.) Is privacy not sacred?
