THE TEN TENORS
I attended their concert at the San Diego Civic Auditorium yesterday. The Ten Tenors are a group of young Australian gentlemen who attended a school for aspiring Opera singers a decade ago and decided to get together and form a group to share "Opera without the boring bits!" as well as their version of other popular music - Beattles to jazz.
Well dressed and very professional looking - black suits and ties with matching white handkerchiefs - they all had beautiful voices and excited the audience - particularly the ladies of all ages - to stading ovations at several points. I was astounded that their renditions of classic songs and opera could excite a full auditorium, but they did. And I am a happier person today for it!
They are accompanied by a pianist, bassist and a drummer - all quite good - and a very well done light show, used effectively to highlight the various tenors.
It really isn't all RAP and four-letter lyrics that people enjoy today, although some days it still feels as if it is!
