WHERE'S THE OUTRAGE?

If you can read this review of Stuart Taylor, Jr. and K.C. Johnson's new book "Until Proven Innocent" and not get sick to your stomach at the injustice of our politically correct leftist elites, you are a less feeling person than I am.

My fear: it is going to get worse!

Injustice? Without doubt. Lots of people jumped on this bandwagon without asking questions and looking for the truth. Happens all too frequently, unfortunately.

But I'd like to see you spell out why you think it will it get worse. While there's always room for human error, I'd like to think some people will learn something from all this...

As an update: today's NY Times has a story on it today. Prosecutor Nifong was disbarred and yesterday was put in jail for a day for criminal contempt.

The students & their families apparently have run up $3 million in legal fees (unclear how much of it was raised by a nonprofit defense fund). They've gotten some (undisclosed) amount in a settlement with Duke University, and are now pressing for a $30 million settlement with the city of Durham. Unclear where that will end up, as "The proposal, which calls for $10 million for each player, could put the city in a financial bind, because its insurance policy covers only $5 million for 'wrongful action' with a $500,000 deductible."

This is why I think it will get worse:

The left has a totalitarian mentality that allows them to make decisions not based on facts, but based on their emotions.

The first, and best, example was in the Dan Rather/W's service record affair where I believe Dan Rather - although it may have been his staff or CBS - said it doesn't make any difference if the papers are forged, because we all know W is guilty. Hard to believe anyone would even want to be connected to the left after that fiasco!

The Nifong affair is simply an extension of that extremely dangerous mentality!
