SLIPPERY SLOPE?

From an Agence France-Presse article of August 22, 2008, titled: "Japanese create stem cells from wisdom teeth". The news is great! But the following paragraph is scary:

"But studies on embryos are strongly opposed by religious conservatives, who argue that such research destroys human life, albeit at its earliest stage of development."

Why a slippery slope?

"But studies on - elderly people - are strongly opposed by religious conservatives, who argue that such research destroys human life, albeit - at its last stage of existence."

"But studies on - retarded children - are strongly opposed by religious conservatives, who argue that such research destroys human life, albeit - they will not contribute to society."

"But studies on - retarded adults - are strongly opposed by religious conservatives, who argue that such research destroys human life, albeit - of a non-contributing part of society."

"But studies on - (you fill in the race) - are strongly opposed by religious conservatives, who argue that such research destroys human life, albeit - they contaminate our society."

Does this string of hypothetical statements follow the first? It certainly could and I am sure has.

Our protection from this attitude is the protection of human life at all stages. ALL!

Peggy Noonan is full of wisdom!

Her comments on abortion are so clear:

"...

As to the question when human life begins, the answer to which is above Mr. Obama's pay grade, oh, let's go on a little tear. You know why they call it birth control? Because it's meant to stop a birth from happening nine months later. We know when life begins. Everyone who ever bought a pack of condoms knows when life begins.

To put it another way, with conception something begins. What do you think it is? A car? A 1948 Buick?

If you want to argue whether legal abortion is morally defensible, have at it and go to it, but Mr. Obama's answers here seemed to me strange and disturbing.

I Couldn't Agree More!

RE: THE LEFT

“I must confess that I am spending an awful lot of time thinking about Barack Obama. I hasten to add that it’s not, as is the case with Chris Matthews, because the Senator sends shivers up my leg. Rather, it’s because I simply can’t figure out how he’s managed to convince so many people that he should be the President of the United States... To be perfectly honest, I invariably feel that way about the candidates the Democrats try to foist off on us. But, as a rule, guys like Dukakis, Gore and Kerry are just typical party hacks. But at least none of them attended a racist church, they didn’t associate with known terrorists and they usually didn’t display their contempt for national symbols and the U.S. military quite so blatantly. Liberals have tried to convince me that Obama is brilliant. I find that odd because he has said that there are 57 states, that JFK got the Russians to remove their missiles from Cuba by sitting down and chatting with Khrushchev, and that Iran doesn’t really constitute an actual threat because they don’t spend as much money on weaponry as we do. Funny, but ‘brilliant’ isn’t the first word that comes to mind. But what do liberals know? They were also convinced that Jimmy Carter was intelligent.”(my emphasais)

Could Peggy Noonan be on to something?

Her column "The End of Placeness" may be identifying a sea change in our politics that is causing some of the problems we are seeing.

You should savor the writing!

"IT'S TIME FOR EDUCATION REFORM" opines John McCain!

Read his Daily News editorial here.

I find it hard to even consider a candidate for President who refuses to change the most broken and most important system in our society.

If you care about our future, it is important to support and vote for John McCain.

Or if you simply cannot bring yourself to vote for a Republican, then get involved and make sure your candidate supports this view. It is that important!
